We’ve made a nifty video for those of you still refusing to believe that Stuart Duncan & I will be playing duo shows starting in May.
The Noam & Friends (Sutton, Bulla, Bales and Cobb) Northeast run starts next week at The Sinclair in Cambridge followed by shows in Connecticut, New York, and Maine. Watch this video recap from the fall tour by Pint of Soul and head on over to the tour page for the upcoming dates and ticket links.
Noam & Friends Tour This Month, Festival Shows Added
Howdy Folks!
Noam, here, with some news that will surely change your life.
My sincere apologies for being incommunicado over the last few months. It’s become a tradition of mine to take some personal time around the holidays and New Year’s to conveniently disappear, thereby evading any obligation to buy gifts/go caroling/shovel. However, this is a tactic I would only dare employ with my closest family and friends, and would never subject the members of this e-mail list to such reprobate behavior.
Instead, the real reason why it’s been so long since I’ve dispatched one of these life-changing missives is because very recently I, myself, received some news that will surely change my life. Just a few weeks ago, I was awoken by a minuscule earthquake, to discover that I had moved to California! Los Angeles, to be specific. Not sure exactly how it happened - I have some foggy, disjointed memories of paper cuts, a Blizzard yard sale, the smell of adhesive, New Mexico, Laser Tag. But I’ve given up trying to piece it all together and have decided to embrace the weather and turn my attention to the serious work of breaking down barriers to become the world’s first celebrity banjo player.
That said, I’d like to announce my triumphant return to the Northeast with some tour dates in February. I’ll be joined again by Bryan Sutton, Luke Bulla, Barry Bales, and Jesse Cobb starting Feb 19th at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA, followed by shows in Connecticut, Maine and New York. These guys are some of the finest Bluegrass musicians you’ll ever hear, and I’m honored to get to share the stage with them. If you’d like to hear a bit of what we do, here are some videos of us playing Big Sandy River and Wheel Hoss off of my latest CD, Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe, live at the FreshGrass Festival last year.
And to dispel any notion that I’m only concerned with the far corners of this great nation, I’ll be appearing with same group at The Pour House in Charleston on April 1st, and the Savannah Music Festival on April 2nd.
A special edition of Noam & Friends featuring Aoife O’Donovan at the first annual Charm City Folk and Bluegrass Festival in Baltimore on April 26th. And later this summer, I’ll be returning to one of my favorite places on earth, the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO for what will surely be an incredibly special post-flood RockyGrass, July 25-27th. I’m thrilled to be back as part of the Academy and for a duo set with fiddler extraordinaire, Stuart Duncan.
There’s lots of new Punch Brothers music brewing as we prepare to record early this summer. We can’t wait to play some of the new songs for you when we go back out on tour in March.
That’s all for now - Hope to see you at one of the shows.
Best,
Noam
I was promised duets and cold beer, but scored some 3-part harmony and scotch. http://noampikelny.com/tour
